I have had great food in Barcelona, and am delighted that a Catalan chef has opened Barlata in the Temescal, as I live in Oakland. My husband and I are also pleased that there are so many vegetarian options on the menu. We are looking forward to dining there.
One note, however--Catalonia is in Spain now, but it is not Spanish. The Catalans, like the Basques, have a long and proud history, and their language and culture was brutally suppressed by the Franco regime. I wish more writers were sensitive to this issue, and would substitute "Catalan" for "Spanish" when writing about this region.
