Re: “Plans Unveiled for 384 New Apartments at 14th and Alice Streets in Oakland

Thank you for bringing this to light, however, there is an important 14th St. population threatened by this project which has gone woefully unmentioned herein. Many may recall the May, 2014 Oakland post office tree trimming debacle which resulted in death and injury to the Night Heron (and possibly egret) populations who reside in the trees that edge this parking lot. One reference is here: http://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/johnson/article/Oakland-s-black-crowned-night-herons-backed-by-6205065.php
Yes, this crushing juggernaut masked as 'revitalization' is rapidly pricing out our population, but attentions to the destruction of non-human habitats should be recognized as well. Recognition of such COULD even help with the battle against this 14th/Alice 'development' project as this incident was squarely on the radar of groups such as the Audubon Society, International Bird Rescue and more, AND the incident was featured far and wide; The NY and LA Times, Huffington Post and more
