Marcus Thompson on Kevin Durant

When: Thu., June 20, 7-8 p.m.
For basketball fans, Kevin Durant is an endless source of intrigue. Many will argue that he’s one of the sport’s greatest players and yet, when it comes to his personal life and motivation, he remains mysterious in a lot of ways. Former East Bay Times columnist Marcus Thompson, now a columnist for The Athletic and writer of Golden: The Miraculous Rise of Steph Curry, recently wrote the definitive biography of Durant: KD: Kevin Durant’s Relentless Pursuit To Be The Greatest, which was released in May. Thompson had a year to get to know Durant and said that it was such a hard task that he might never write another book again. That doesn’t mean the book isn’t revealing. The book covers a range of topics, like Durant’s feelings about being sidelined, his attitude toward journalists who cover him, and his difficult childhood. Thompson comes to Moe’s Books to read from his book and sign copies for fans.
