Re: “Brava Theatre Center

The marimba music legacy continues to live through its unique
sound. Even though many versions of the marimba are played in
different parts of the world, nowhere it is more celebrated and central
to the identity of its people than in Guatemala.
"The Marimba and The Colors of Guatemala" is a musical expression
of folklore and tradition. It represents an attempt to connect with the
different Guatemalan communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
This unprecedented show is a performance of vocal and instrumental
music. The show honors the Mayan ancestral lineage as well as the
hearts and minds of accomplished musical composers.
The participation of Marimba Band "Noche de Fiesta Chapina" is an
important contribution of Latino Leader Juan Reyes of the San
Francisco Mission District as well as the assistance of The
Guatemalan International Association Maya Mam.
The show is produced by Latin Vocalist Ana Nitmar in collaboration with Artistic Director Gabriela Shiroma.
Ana Nitmar is an artist who delivers a bright and clear interpretation. Her sweet sounding voice and elegant performance has dazzled audiences at various venues in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is an effervescent singer on the Latin jazz and World Music/ Guatemalan Marimba stages as well.

Re: “Cafe Van Kleef

Enjoy an evening of eclectic sounds inspired by the vast musical soul of Brazil, and Latin America intermingled with indigenous African sounds. Great local musicians will be joining Latin Vocalist Ana Nitmar.

Ana Nitmar is an artist who delivers a bright and clear interpretation. Her sweet sounding voice and elegant performance has dazzled audiences at various venues in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has had the pleasure to record and perform with renowned master musicians.

This time, she will share the stage with Carlos Oliveira, a guitarist, composer and arranger who showcases a variety of Brazilian music styles; Micha Patri who is regarded as one of the most versatile drummers in the Bay Area and is noted for his intensity and emotional fire; and Jim Shearer, an outstanding Jazz and Bossa Nova upright bass player.

Ana Nitmar is a singer increasingly active on the SF Bay Area music scene, her first CD, Forest in Spring, was released on summer 2007. This is a recording in which Ana Nitmar puts her vocal instrument to delightful use by singing in Spanish, English, Portuguese and Italian. The songs on Forest in Spring create an intriguing mix of styles and feels. Ana Nitmar artfully displays her musical skills and infectious joie de vivre on Forest in Spring. She infuses the CD with a triumphantly joyful spirit, inspired by the grand diversity of color and life contained in the tropical rain forests of her homeland Guatemala. Indeed it is the rain forest itself from which Ana Nitmar derives a great deal of her artistic inspiration.
Ana is now poised to bring her many talents to a much wider audience; she is an effervescent singer on the Latin jazz/World music stage

About Ana Nitmar latest music project:

If the music that touches us most is music that speaks directly to our best impulses toward living, loving and the joy of creating, then surely the world will heartily welcome the release of Latin vocalist Ana Nitmar’s first CD, Forest in Spring, along with Ana Nitmar’s emergence as a delightful, effervescent singer on the Latin jazz/World music stage.
Ana Nitmar, blessed with a beautiful voice puts her vocal instrument to delightful use on her new CD, singing in Spanish, English, Portuguese and Italian.

May Cavallaro (San Francisco Jazz Vocalist) says:

Listening to Ana Nitmar’s new CD “Forest in Spring” is like taking a lovely vacation to a warm climate. Her voice is haunting and can be at times filled with longing as in the song sung in Spanish, “Querer,” or joyous and uplifting as in the song “Samba de Bencao” sung in Portugese. The CD opens with one of her original compositions, “Forest in Spring,” also in Spanish, that paints the picture of her homeland, Guatemala, and the beauty of the tropical rain forest. There is wonderful musicianship throughout, but the recording is noteworthy for the wonderful spirit of Ana Nitmar that shines through in all 12 tracks and 4 languages. A beautiful and very listenable CD.
