Maggie Pouncey

When: Thu., July 1, 7:30 p.m. 2010

In Maggie Pouncey's debut novel Perfect Reader, stubborn and self-assured only-child Flora Dempsey returns to her quaint hometown after her college-president father's death. Discovering a hidden hoard of poems he composed in his final years, she learns that he had a lover of whom she'd never heard ñ and thus a kind of secret life. Pouncey discusses this literary exploration of the many vagaries of intimacy at Mrs. Dalloway's (2904 College Ave., Berkeley) on Thursday, July 1. 7:30 p.m., free.
