July's Lyrics & Dirges brings the East Bay another inspired combination of up-and-comers alongside established writers. This month, host Tomas Moniz welcomes Philadelphian Mia McKenzie, "black feminist and freaking queer"; MelizaBanales, the first Latina on the West Coast to win a poetry slam championship; Jeremy Adam Smith, co-editor of the Express-reviewed anthology Rad Dad: Dispatches from the Frontiers of Fatherhood; Michelle Cruz Gonzales, memoirist living in Oakland with her human and furry family; and Ariel Luckey, nationally acclaimed poet, actor, and playwright.
