Lunar New Year Celebration

When: Sat., Jan. 17, 2:30-3:30 p.m. 2009
Price: free

According to the Chinese zodiac, the Year of the Ox is a year of prosperity ... but only through hard work. Both actual oxen and their human counterparts, born during Ox years -- of which 2009 is one -- are characterized by their firm resolve and unshakable will to get jobs done. At the Oakland Public Library's Asian Branch (388 9th St., Oakland) on Saturday, Jan. 17, Oakland historian Ernest Chann hosts a Lunar New Year party. 2:30 p.m. OaklandLibrary.org
