In The Hummingbird's Daughter, Latino Literary Hall of Famer and American Book Award-winner Luis Alberto Urrea told of the youth of his great-aunt Teresa, the real-life "Saint of Cabora." Seventeen years later, Teresa returns in Queen of America to heal, inspire, and fall in love amid the Mexican Revolution and turn-of-the-20th-century San Francisco, New York, and St. Louis. Berkeley Arts & Lectures presents Urrea on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Hillside Club (2286 Cedar Street, Berkeley), with some proceeds going to the Alameda County Food Bank. 7:30 p.m., $12-$48. 800-838-3006 or BrownPaperTickets.com
