So, brokenhearted merc, no one is as good as you, eh? When one looks at the other posts, particularly the ones from folks who have encountered the Lean Mean Dean style before, the idea could form that it just doesn't make any difference to him, as long as profitabilty reigns. The thoughtful Perspective section is gone (no advertising, they said), color ads are showing up on 1A and other section fronts, story counts are in steep decline and the "local" section appears to be mostly written by CoCoTimes, Trib, SCruz Sentinel and all the other "umbrella" staffers, leaving San Jose enterprise stories begging. Wire stories CAN fill the paper, but who would want to read it? And, what are "union job descriptions"? The company defines jobs. The union protects them (and their practioners) to the best of its ability. Don't forget: the company agreed to the contract terms, but like certain government officials, doesn't think it has to abide by it.
