Re: “Why 500 People Ate Lunch Together in West Oakland

Some comments posted were based on pending data and are now inaccurate. But these comments show up in high-ranking Google searches and there is no way to delete or modify past comments. The East Bay Express and Janus do not respond to requests asking to remove accounts or past comments. I am sure in the EULA we all agreed that our comments are the property of East Bay Express, but was not expecting that the comment section would be ranked so high by Google. Please delete this account and its comments. Thanks in advance.

Re: “Thousands Plan To Join Hands Around Oakland's Lake Merritt In Protest of Trump on Sunday

My tax bracket it will go up by 5% with Trump. In fact I don't get a tax break until I hit $413,000 a year. It's good that my middle-class taxes will go up so that I can reduce the burden on those making over $413k a year. And what of the poor bankers ? They will finally have the regulations removed. We can trust them right, what could go wrong ? Finally we needed to get rid the brown people. Sure, they pick my food, transport my food, cook my food, clean up my mess and most of them pay more in taxes than DJT. But I'm told they are the reason my taxes have to go up. So Adios! Besides one of them could give birth to the next Timothy McVeigh. /s

Re: “Oakland SRO Tenants Sue Tech Housing Investors for Harassment

I lived in Hotel Travelers for about a year prior to it being owned by Danny Haber. I can state that the current complaint regarding, "trash to pile up in the hallways, removed the building's wifi, and allowed the elevator to go unfixed", these problems existed in 2014/2015 and are partly the reasons I moved out.

As for the front desk attendee, they made me feel like I lived in a minimum security prison. They were confrontational/unpleasant. It also sucked not having a key to your own front door and having a bad tempered employee annoyed that you woke him up to get into your own building. If the tenants now have a key to the front door it might be a good thing.

I empathize for my former neighbors. That building was difficult to live in prior to the renovation and I can't imagine the situation is better. But it needs to happen.
