Loni Hancock has a last little bit of business before she leaves the Assembly to join the state Senate: she wants to raise Sacramento lobbyists' fees to pay for public campaign financing.

Sounds just skippy to us; currently, lobbyists only pay $25 every two years for the privilege of bribing our politicians. According to the (sigh) MediaNews Sacramento bureau, Hancock's bill would raise the fees to $350 a year, which would generate $350,000 for the public financing program. Which is still lower than Massachusetts, which bills lobbyists a grand a year. Gosh, what bill do you think lobbyists will try to kill in the next few months?
