Little Saigon Moon Festival / Night Market

When: Sat., Sept. 14, 2-9 p.m. 2019
This Saturday, head to Clinton Park for a homegrown celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Organized by the Oakland Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce, the event is meant to reinforce the park’s status as a community gathering place and strengthen ties between the community and local organizations. The festival portion takes place from 2-5 p.m., when there’ll be a free mooncake, lantern making, and backpack giveaway for kids, plus activities and prizes. After 5 p.m., the festival transforms into a night market where attendees can choose from about a dozen different food vendors selling Vietnamese food and more. Oakland’s own Chef Tu David Phu (of Top Chef and San Francisco Chronicle Rising Star Chef fame), along with Instagram food celebrity @BayAreaFoodz, will be judging and choosing their favorite dishes at the night market. Plus, enjoy entertainment from local DJs, and watch participants compete in a fashion pageant showcasing áo dài, traditional Vietnamese dresses.
