Little Mary Sunshine

When: Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2:30 p.m. Continues through Dec. 15 2007
Price: $15, $18

Robert Besoyan's parody of melodramatic musicals and overwrought operettas, Little Mary Sunshine became an Off-Broadway hit way back in 1959, and its chiseled heroes, distressed damsels, and hiss-worthy heavies have kept it in rotation among community theaters ever since, despite its rather broad portrayal of minorities such as Native Americans and Mounties. Point Richmond's Masquers Playhouse takes it out of mothballs for the first time since 1970 in a production staged by managing director Robert Love. Nov. 2 through Dec. 15 at the Masquers or 510-232-4031.
