What do you think you'll achieve by harping on the black/latino issue? For one, it is counterproductive and could easily turn off the minority in those communities who voted against Prop 8. I am not even sure that the exit polls are all that accurate but assuming that they are, is anyone really surprised that blacks and latinos voted against prop 8 anymore than we're surprised that religious voters did the same (there's a great deal of overlap there anyway)?

In all this post mortem discussion, few have focused on the fact that our 'mainstream' gay rights organizations did a horrible job, first in raising the alarm about what could happen and second in running a convincing campaign on the ground and on the airwaves, including the internet. Forget the financial advantage that the pro-prop 8 people had, the fact is that unless your constituents (gay and gay-friendly voters) are sufficiently energized, a vote like this is certain to go against them. Maybe this is as good a time as ever to shake up those organizations and to infuse them with new management.
