Last Sunday Free Write Group

When: Last Sunday of every month, 6 p.m. Continues through April 1 2008
Price: free

Most of us endure daily commutes without much comment, taking for granted green highway signs, gray asphalt, and the glint of chrome. But for Alameda poet Patricia Edith, all of life symbolizes one of these long transits, traffic jams and all. Her book The Commute is one long 26-part poem, including such subsections as "War," "Fire," "Fate," "Evolution," and "Dying." On Nov. 25 at the Frank Bette Center for the Arts (1601 Paru St., Alameda), Edith hosts this month's meeting of the Last Sunday Free Write Group, a three-hour drop-in write-and-read workshop. 6 p.m. FrankBetteCenter.org
