This US-made, Spanish-language comic heist pic benefits from its spirited cast of misfits, banding together to rip off an unscrupulous Los Angeles TV "infomercial guru" guilty of selling fake medical products to gullible recent immigrants -- so there's a social justice angle amidst the sight gags. Telenovela actors Fernando Colunga, Ivonne Montero, Julie Gonzalo, and Saúl Lisazo (the bad guy) make a broadly appealing alternative to the Ocean's Eleven series, and TV veteran director Joe Menendez spins JoJo Henrickson's Robin Hood screenplay into a mild social commentary about the "other America" that exists alongside the English-speaking majority. Takes itself only slightly more seriously than Cheech & Chong — and that's a good thing (running time unknown, 2007).
