Drama, Romance
A pair of eleven-year-olds named Kylie (Kelly O’Neill) and Dylan (Shane Curry) with family troubles at home runs away to the bright lights of Dublin during Christmas holidays, and discovers something like love, in this slim, satisfying tale by Irish writer-director Lance Daly. The two young first-time actors naturally steal the movie, but having Stephen Rae (as an Australian Bob Dylan impersonator) and a supporting cast of “road characters” adds that much more magic to Kylie and Dylan’s journey through Night Town. Very much in the mold of Somers Town, Fish Tank, and perhaps even Breakfast on Pluto, in the annals of unwanted children finding redemption on a rubbish heap (75 min.).
