Xan Cassavetes, daughter of John Cassavetes, manages to add a new wrinkle to one of cinema’s oldest and hoariest genres, the vampire picture. The undead folks who live in that spooky mansion outside New York City sleep in comfy, clean sheets instead of a moldy coffin in the cellar, and lead vamp Djuna (Joséphine de la Baume) is more interested in threesomes and house parties with the “beautiful people” of her kind than in howling at the moon. It’s as if Dracula were run through Vogue magazine. Is writer-director Cassavetes making a veiled point about rich blood-suckers? Maybe. While we’re wrestling with that, we can enjoy the bloody hamming of Roxane Mesquida, the Debi Mazar of the Great Recession, and Ching Valdes-Aran as Irene, the sinister maid. (97 min.)
