.Kid-Friendliest Pub

CommonWealth Micropub

Normally, a British pub wouldn’t be the first place that we’d recommend for an evening out with kids in tow. Then again, most pubs aren’t anything like CommonWealth Micropub, where if you arrive early enough in the evening, the apple juice-sipping toddlers might actually outnumber their beer-swilling grownup counterparts. Owners Ross and Ahna Adair have young children of their own, so when they set about planning their popular pub’s Emeryville outpost, it was only natural that they’d keep the neighborhood’s young families in mind. We don’t know of too many other bars that will bring coloring paper to the table as soon as you’re seated, or that offer a robust kids’ menu with obvious crowd-pleasers (chicken fingers, French fries) as well as less obvious ones (miniature Yorkshire pudding for the win). Which isn’t to say that the regular menu isn’t kid-friendly: What child doesn’t like freshly baked scones served with a dollop of clotted cream, or chicken potpie with a big ol’ drumstick jutting out of the top? No spawn of ours, that’s for sure.
