Re: “Updated: For Quan and Perata, It’s a Two-Person Race

Kaplan is all about herself and her same boring picture she always uses on everything. Most of her organizers are paid staff, versus Jean's 1,000+ volunteers that have been walking door to door, calling their neighbors, tabling at farmers markets, wearing shirts and buttons at the grocery store, and simply talking to their friends, family and neighbors. Jean's campaign is inspiring all of us to get out into the streets and move our city forward! It's about us and what we can do together, not just the political candidate.

Truly we are Oakland, our hundreds of volunteers represent the rainbow of our diverse city. Old and young, black, white, brown and yellow. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans. Christian, Jewish and Muslim. No matter the outcome of this political contest, because of our unity, we've already won! The network of over 1,000 community leaders are ready to take back Oakland, Block by Block!

We are NOT STANDING QUIETLY as Perata's Prison Guard Union floods over $1MILLION DOLLARS into his campaign. I get sick to my stomach every time I see his commercial or get his mailer knowing it is tainted with the blood of the racist and powerful Prison Guard Union. We need MORE SCHOOLS and WAY LESS JAILS.

VOTE HARD THIS ELECTION! OAKLAND NEEDS YOU! For our FUTURE and our CHILDREN'S future. We need JOBS, better SCHOOLS and SAFER streets. Like the Diamond and Laurel Districts, Oakland will rise, springing forth color and life, because united, we will make it rise! And together the people and not the special interests or self-centered politicians will OWN THIS CITY. VOTE EARLY ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 2ND! Find your polling place at

Re: “Updated: For Quan and Perata, It’s a Two-Person Race

If you look at Kaplans approach to campaigning it seems very centered around her and the same picture she always uses. As a volunteer with Jean's campaign I know we have well over 700 concerned Oaklanders walking door to door, calling their neighbors, tabling at farmers markets, wearing shirts & buttons. Jean is inspiring us to believe in ourselves and in our ability to take back our city!

The reason why I know Jean is the best candidate for Mayor is because we we've already won. The people and the connections I've made, we've made as a community are invaluable. No matter the outcome of this political contest, we've built up a network of organized community leaders, ready to Take Back Oakland, Block By Block!

Jean will not rest until every kid is safe, until our schools are flourishing, until our streets are safe to walk down at night, and our businesses regain their status major East Bay retail districts. Will you join the movement Will you rise above the fray and petty discoruse to help us move our city forward. VOTE on TUESDAY and make sure YOUR hundreds VOICE is heard!
