Re: “Loopholes in ADA Law Make "No Pets" Clauses Nearly Impossible to Enforce”
Time for some legal battles between people who claim they "need" a dog and those of us with REAL disabilities that make it impossible for us to be around barking or violent dogs. (Pit bull nutters love to call their killing machines "emotional support dogs.") I'm currently looking for 100% dog-free condo or mobile home park! I've finally given up after the last ugly battle over "nuisance" barking. I have neurological disabilities, including Hyperekplexia, that make it dangerous for me to be around barking dogs. Half-assed, passive aggressive pseudo-compliance with barking regulations just won't cut it. I need to get away from these people. (This is also the condo complex where I was attacked by a pit next door a couple years ago.) I'm done fighting. All I've ever needed was for the existing CC&Rs to be enforced, but the board and management association refuse to do anything pro-active to keep the violations from happening. (They do respond, eventually, but only after I've been made to suffer drop and myoclonic attacks for three months, not to mention the verbal abuse and threats from the nutter neighbors.) I can find rentals that are 100% dog-free, but I can't afford to rent -- I'm living on a pension now, and I just can't afford to lose my equity. I'm in California, but willing to move to ID, AZ, WY, ND, SD or NM. The most important thing is finding a place that has a 100% No Dogs policy. And, hell yes, I'm willing to fight for it.
