Re: “Weed War: Cali Cops Take Home $181 Million in Loot

Mr President, First Lady and Family:

I am a 46 year old Male residing in a small mountain town on the west coast.  I ran a Cyber security company that was quite successful and I am a member of the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society. My body was Afflicted with Parkinson's Disease at the early age of 43 (caused by a medication I had been prescribed for severe upset stomach) and also, I have been afflicted with Convulsive Seizure Disorder since the age of 1.  The pain that has wracked my body over the many years is only getting worse year by year. My pain threshold is only so high and some nights my neighbors can hear me cry out even with the windows closed.

For the last three years I have spent many hours reading reports, dating back as far as 1974, about the beneficial medical properties of a plant called Cannabis. I am quite confused about this, as Cannabis is listed as a Schedule 1 substance which means that it has absolutely no medical benefits what so ever.  If several highly reputable institutions, including the AMA, and almost every medical professionals group have performed "double blind, placebo control, mass studies concerning the medical benefits of Cannabis.  Why in logic does it remain on Schedule 1?  Proven studies include Cancer, SEIZURES, Parkinson's, glaucoma and a list longer than your arm of ailments that Cannabis either cures outright or treats humanely.  I can't help but admit I have experimented with Cannabis for my Seizures and I was astounded to discover that if ingested at the proper time, Cannabis can stop the seizure, cold in its tracks.  (There is no pharmaceutical concoction that can do this regardless of what you may have heard.) I am shocked as an American that this harmless plant is being kept from those that could live a life of liberty and the pursuit of happiness, if they could but get over the pain or debilitating effects of their ailments.

Since it has been proven, time and time again, without question that Cannabis does have medical benefits and applications, the American people are now respectfully requesting that this travesty be corrected and the plant Cannabis be removed from Schedule 1 immediately and placed on its proper place in the books (completely harmless and even beneficial).  The needless suffering of millions of Americans alone should warrant your immediate attention on this matter and it should become one of your highest priorities.

Thanks for being Pres.
