Re: “Nurses Jump on Quan for Response to Occupy Oakland, Too

It is unconscionable that Mayor Quan issued the order to go after the non-violent protesters at Occupy Oakland (and left town). Our communities have been devastated by the economic crisis created by Wall Street, as nurses we are seeing patients unable to pay for their medications, parents choosing who in the family gets care, and patients leaving the hospital early because they cannot afford the co-pays for each nights stay. The dialogue in this country must change and the Occupy movement is accomplishing that change. This is not just a movement of radical, fringe protesters, despite what you may see on TV or in the news, it is much more representative than that. The occupiers may look a little messy at times, but the overall protest against the irresponsibility of Wall Street and the banking system and the brutal economic injustice that our communities are facing is a sound one.
