Kassa Overall

When: Sat., Feb. 29, 8 p.m.-1 a.m. 2020
Price: $15
You never know where Kassa Overall is going to show up. The stylistically polyglot Brooklyn-based recording artist has performed at the SFJazz Center as a drummer with piano star Vijay Iyer, and he returns to Minor Auditorium twice in the coming months on turntables, first on March 29 with Fly Higher, an all-star project celebrating bebop genius Charlie Parker’s centenary, and again in June with Grammy Award-winning drummer Terri Lyne Carrington’s Social Science project (which also features Overall on vocals). Meanwhile, he slips into town this week to celebrate the release of his immersive hip-hop inflected album I Think I’m Good with a killer cast of young New York cats, including Julius Rodriguez on keyboards and drums, Paul Wilson on keys/electronics and drums, and special guest Ambrose Akinmusire on trumpet. The program also includes DJ sets by DJ Kream and Mejiwahn.
