At 2:45 p.m. on August 12, 2008, a lone female pelican landed on the Golden Gate Bridge, standing unfazed on a southbound curb lane as cars swerved to avoid her. The odd pelican — dubbed Gigi for the bridge where she managed to stop three lanes of traffic — was eventually “arrested” by police and subsequently became a minor YouTube sensation. More than four years later, Gigi is the subject of a new documentary by Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill filmmaker Judy Irving. Join Irving on Monday, Feb. 4, at the Hillside Club (2286 Cedar St., Berkeley) for a discussion of the work-in-progress, Pelican Dreams, and a sneak-peak of the movie. 7:30 p.m., free. 510-848-3227 or HillsideClub.org
