San Francisco-string metal band Judgement Day made quite an impression with its 2004 debut, Dark Opus, which boldly declared that, despite all the shredding, it was devoid of guitars. But then the trio — brothers Anton (on violin) and Lewis (on cello) Patzner, and drummer Jon Bush — took a long break. Lewis enrolled in the Peabody Institute, where he studied performance technique and advanced music theory, while Anton joined Bright Eyes. Four years later, the guys are back with a new album, Peacocks/Pink Monsters.
