Re: “Is Marijuana Legalization More Like Gay Marriage or Abortion?

One of the primary purposes of the United Nations, and its predecessor, the League of Nations, is international narcotics enforcement, and cannabis eradication policies have been a central part of that international effort ever since its inception. The young people don't know Harry Anslinger, and they couldn't imagine the depth of his rage and power nor could they imagine the scope of his awful legacy. That scoundrel had more power to enforce an international ban than presidents, prime ministers, kings or queens. This is why cannabis prohibition is unlike anything else the world has ever known.

Re: “Partnership For A Drug-Free America Has Moment of Clarity: Concedes Marijuana War Is Lost

How about providing cannabis to everybody as a safe and legal alternative to other drugs? Make it easier to get than crack or meth or even cigarettes and alcohol. Teach the kids how to use it to fight addiction. Teach them how to respect it.

As for addictive drugs, how about treating addiction like a medical condition instead of evidence of a crime?

Re: “Drug War Profiteers Named and Shamed

You're forgetting the big stakeholders. Ethanol produced from the fibers of natural cannabis can be made available more cheaply than gasoline. The big oil and gas companies can limit the supply of fossil fuels by owning the wells, but they need prohibition to limit the supply of cannabis. Natural cannabis can be grown by anyone, anywhere. If you get rid of the current restrictions placed on the world's "industrial hemp" farmers, what you will be left with is the world's least expensive source of cellulose fiber. Gone will be the days when the world's energy markets can be controlled, owned and mainipulated by a handful of greedy multi-billionaires.
