Re: “Agave Uptown Celebrates the Bounty of the Traditional Oaxacan Table

Be sure to verify the items in your check because they appear to have the habit of adding items that you didnt order (happened to me three times!)

Re: “Town Business: 'Delete' the Police Academy, Fund a Police Commission

Dellums and Quan allowed the police force to dwindle and crime skyrocketed. Are we sure that we should repeat this?

Re: “Veteran Oakland Homicide Investigator Mishandled Evidence in Ongoing Murder Case

It is my hope that the scumbag murderers of Judy Salamon are not freed due to this mess because society does not deserve the risks of having them on our streets.

Re: “Veteran Oakland Homicide Investigator Mishandled Evidence in Ongoing Murder Case

It is my hope that Mayor Schaaf will be given a chance to drive her mission to rectify the ills of the OPD. This has been incredibly embarrassing for her, and, yet she has admitted her mistakes publicly and without reluctance. Mayor Schaaf has taken great political risk for doing the right thing for Oakland residents and this fell on her watch because leaders of the past simply kicked the can down the road.

Re: “A Missed Opportunity

Persons of a certain race are often described as suspects in a great majority of crimes in Berkeley and Oakland. What does Jim Chanin have to say about that fact? How about you, Robert? Even Black police officers profile persons of their own race.

If you saw a tiger strolling down the block, would you give it the benefit of the doubt in that it wouldn't attack or kill you? Behavior is usually shaped and modified by experience, knowledge, and statistics. It is simply human nature but I know, it doesnt fit your narrative.

Re: “Oakland's Culture Clash

The real tragedy is that a very high number of suspects in Oakland crimes are described as Black (this figure remains even for crimes committed in mostly White neighborhoods).

Since the housing crisis is not limited to Oakland, a more pragmatic approach would be to develop a regional solution. Why people think City leaders have the power to reverse a trend experienced in the entire Bay Area is beyond me...
