Oakland could screw up a wet dream.

Re: “The Baffling Mayoral Bid of Marcie Hodge

Jean Quan is a classic example of "failing upward". As an Oakland Unified School District Board member she lead the fight for Ebonics and negotiated a 27 percent increase in pay for teachers that lead the District into insolvency. Somehow she got elected to the City Council and Oakland continues to teeter on the edge of insolvency.

Oakland can really pick them. Guess Jean has a great chance of being elected Mayor. God help Oakland.

Re: “The Oakland Police Pension Problem

Jean Quan was on the School Board when it bankrupted the district with unaffordable pay raises. Now she's done the same thing for the entire city. And now she wants to run for mayor?? Oakland voters are hopeless.

Re: “Oakland Unified Has Too Many Schools

Does anyone really believe that a poorly performing teacher will become a good teacher if she's paid $15,000 more?

Get real.

Re: “What's Driving California's Demand for Higher Education?

Too bad vocational courses were lost at the secondary school level. That's a much more cost-effective level to teach vocational/semi-professional skills.

Re: “No City Money for New A'sBallpark

Great. The New York Yankee's best farm team is going to get a new ball park. Glad Oakland has its priorities straight.
