Re: “Gambling with Children

While this article raises many serious and valid issues, it is disappointing and sad to see the CNA (I can't blame the article's author for being uneducated in the field of medicine) resort to so many outright lies, selective memory and such a remedial understanding of medicine in their attempt to prostitute this tragic story for their upcoming contract renegotiation. The ends don't always justify the means. Shame on the CNA!

Re: “Nurses Say Kaiser Oakland Is Shortchanging Patients

There are over 400 RNs each week at Bay Area Kaiser hospitals that are involved in ZERO patient care. These are RNs making >$120K/year, not including benefits. In efforts to assist with RN shortages elsewhere, these extra were offered the chance at retraining or early full retirement. Most of the RNs have refused to be reassigned or retrained. Literally every day there are classrooms full of RNs doing nothing but checking their PDAs and reading magazines "working" a shift. While the staffing situation is gravely concerning, do not believe the CNA propaganda that this is somehow a one-sided issue. With there contract soon to expire this is a money grab by the CNA, which is their right, but at least be honest about it.
