Nice try Cera. It's not YOUR neighborhood. This is America last time I checked and everyone has a right to liver wherever they want and can afford.

If anything, you're living on Spanish land - we Spaniards (my family is from Spain) were here in the the 1500's...

So maybe you should leave our land and go back to Scotland (Byer is Scottish, right)?

Vincent - per your previous post, you're a "middle-aged, not-emerging" and financially-strapped artist".

My father was an artist too. Came to New York with under $100 to his name and little, broken English skills - and beat the pavement to find clients to work for. In 1983 he bought a house in Queens for $85,000. My parents scrimped and saved to get me to college and I got a Computer Science degree.

As I young adult I could have bought an entire brownstone for $100k in Manhattan the early 90's but I didn't...So I paid a lot more for less in Oakland in 2011.

You could have bought a house in Oakland for $200k in a good area as late as 1999 - but you didn't.

My entire family is hard-core Democrats/Liberals, ***AND*** we expect people to contribute and make their own way. No one is entitled.

"time is running out to shape the current economic boom in an equitable way"

Equitable for who and why? I saved like crazy to buy my house in Oakland in 2011. No hand-outs for me and didn't ask for any because I'm not entitled. I just worked my butt off to get a science degree.

No one owes you a lifestyle. If that were the case I should be allowed to move back to MANHATTAN at an affordable price, right?

Re: “Affordable Housing on Public Land

I resent the label of "working class"...I'm working class...worked my butt off in college to get a Computer Science degree - my father was an immigrant artist - no college grants here just saving every penny and my hard work after graduation. Where's my handout with an affordable unit? Oh right I won't qualify.
