When: Wed., Jan. 18, 8-11 p.m. 2017
Price: $10-20
birdlandjazz.org
Two outstanding vocalists grace Birdland, both Berklee College of Music grads. Joanna Teters presents original new-school soul (and other) tunes, with a voice reminiscent of India Arie’s. Teters gives playful and energetic yet poised performances of both original compositions and covers. Her musical team is pianist Noah Barker, guitarist Ted Morcaldi, bassist Ben Carr, and drummer Zane West. Opening is Courtney Knott, presenting soul and pop/rock. A multi-talented vocalist/pianist/composer and video-game star, Knott was a celebrated White House performer, joining her here are drummer James "StickNasty" Small, keyboardist L.J., guitarist Tim Marconett, and bassist Michael "Tiny" Lindsey.
