Re: “John Garamendi Wants to Replace Tauscher

I received a Robo Call from John Garamendi this weekend Under the
California Public Utilities Code, political robo calls are illegal. So
California's law prohibit robo calls unless announced by a live operatior
who requests the persons permission before continuing. Garamendi's
robocall had no live voice @ the beginning and no request to consent was
made. The CPUC Code Sections 2871-2876 clearly prohibit any form
of auto-dialer calls or robocalls being made in California unless the call
is preceded by a live voice and states: “only after an unrecorded, natural
voice announcement has been made to the person called by the person
calling.” Here is a California Public Utilities Commision site to
cite:
http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/NR/rdonlyres/51D7DD5B-9902-4C3B-9EB3-B75F56CBB4C2/0/080129_RobocallADAD_FAQ.pdf
Robo calls are impersonal and like Garamendi's campaign, is all
about talking and not about listening. Robo calls are annoying and
a waste of voters time and a bad way to campaign, especially this early.
The call went out over the weekend and reportedly, was from
Garamendi talking about his candidacy and ecouraging people to visit his
website. Garamendi clearly does not respect California's laws or
its voters.
