Jim Campilongo's Christmas Show

When: Thu., Dec. 20, 8 p.m. 2007
Price: $12

Jim Campilongo's guitar mastery graced several cult bands in the Bay Area including the Ten Gallon Cats, not to mention his contributions to Cake's million-selling album Prolonging the Magic. Since leaving the Bay Area for Brooklyn, he has played with Martha Wainwright and Teddy Thompson, as well as a the Little Willies, a band he started with Norah Jones to play covers of their favorite country tunes. His late night country noir sound has no equal and he'll be augmenting his stellar chops with special guest vocalists that will include Brandi Shearer, Kurt Stevenson, and Johnny Dilks, to name just a few. They'll be singing Christmas songs old and wrapped up in Campilongo's always surprising arrangements. Special guest musician pedal steel player Bobby Black, noted for his work with Commander Cody and the New Riders of the Purple Sage, will add his magic to the evening. Guitar Player magazine is sponsoring the show and will be handing out free gifts and raffle tickets. The Jim Campilongo Christmas Show with Bobby Black happens Thursday, Dec. 20 at Cafe du Nord. 8 p.m., $12.
