Re: “Anaviv’s Table Brings Farm-to-Table Dining in an Intimate Richmond Setting

I wonder how long this will be around ?
This restaurant scene is getting to be ridiculous.

Re: “The Forces Driving Gentrification in Oakland

At least something is happening in Oakland in the way of development.
That is a good thing. After having lived here for 40 years, I know the homeless situation is easily remedied by using the same tactics that virtually all of the surrounding communities have used, - SETTING BOUNDARIES !!!

Re: “Fire at 'The Village' Homeless Camp in East Oakland Displaces 37

At least the trash , junk, and filth that these people accumulate and store out in the open was eliminated. No, i do not like seeing the slum like conditions of Kolkata when I drive to work. We have no caste system in this country, and therefore , it should not exist. Boundaries need to be set with these people.
Yes, BOUNDARIES !

Re: “Oakland Landlord Beefs with City, Calls for 'No More Homeless Camps,' with Halloween Decorations

These comments are unbelievable. Obviously they are coming from people that so not pay much in the way of taxes that most functioning people do,

Re: “City Forcing West Oakland’s Alliance Metals to Close on August 20, But Supporters Argue Recyclers Have No Safety Net

Why don't you rally to support an Alliance Metals in you neighborhood ?
I am sure that these people, and of course you and your neighbors, will be very happy with this relationship.

Re: “Updated: Oakland Spent $72K Closing 162 Homeless Camps in 2015

Due to the inability of Libby Schaff's city government to do anything about the homeless under freeway 880 and highway 24 . they have now started to store discarded refuse from taxpayers on the sidewalk. I pay close to $500.00 in storage fees to storage goods that I need to survive in small business. These people think nothing of storing all of their belongings on the public sidewalk, making it impossible to pass, comingling with their garbage.
Has the Police Department and Libby Schaff lost their sense of decorum.
What in earth is going on ?
I believe that Libby has no idea of how to deal with this problem.
What it takes is some blunt decision making and enforcement like you have in Alameda, San Leandro , Emeryville and El Cerrito, along with Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette and Walnut Creek.

Re: “UC Berkeley Researchers: Oakland's Homeless Camp Policies Are Contradictory, Harmful

The fact that these people are "pack rats" and are storing their possessions in public view on public property should be a very strong message to Libby Schaff and the city of Berkeley that something is very wrong here. These two cities are very adamant that people who own property (a house or a car) follow rules or face the consequences. These people living in tents with public sidewalk storage are no different. Oakland and Berkeley need to face the facts and get rid of them like El Cerrito, Albany, Alameda, San Leandro and the rest of the surrounding cities. Being blunt with these people is the only way to react as they are pushing their boundaries with the rest of us.
