Even the remarkable CrowdenMusicCenter, whose school trains some of tomorrow's brightest classical hopes, occasionally crosses the line. To benefit young Crowden musicians, they'll journey to Yoshi's(510 Embarcadero W., Oakland) on Tuesday, May 5, to present "Off the Classical Beat," an evening of innovative jazz and classical crossover. Performers include Jeremy Cohen's band Violinjazz (pianist Larry Dunlap, bassist Jim Kerwin, and guitarist Dix Bruce), Karen Blixt's combo (pianist Frank Martin and bassist Abraham Laboriel), young Crowden musicians, and Quartet San Francisco performing its new version of "Bohemian Rhapsody." 7:30 p.m., $10-$25.
