If ever there was a modern-day interpretation of that classic LaurelCanyon country-rock sound of the '70s, it would be via Rilo Kiley pinup Jenny Lewis and LA outfit Beachwood Sparks. Unlike the Southern gospel/gothic twang of Rabbit Fur Coat, Lewis' 2006 outing with the Watson Twins, her new album Acid Tongue reverberates with more of a SoCal vibe aided by guest shots by She & Him, Elvis Costello, and Black Crowe Chris Robinson. And while it's been nearly six years since the Sparks were channeling the likes of the Flying Burrito Brothers and Buffalo Springfield, they've reunited to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their longtime label Sub Pop. All of which makes this the kind of double bill where the spirit of Gram Parsons may very well be hovering over at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness Blvd., San Francisco) on Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Wednesday, Oct. 29. 8 p.m., $27.50.
