Urban emptiness in Tel Aviv, female division. A luckless waitress, a kvetching bride with a broken leg having a miserable honeymoon, a homesick Filipina domestic, and a lost little girl who emerged from the sea interact in Etgar Keret and Shira Geffen’s arguably watchable contemporary Israeli drama. Sarah Adler gives the best performance as Batya, the waitress who finds the lost girl. Keret and writer Geffen might have soft-pedaled the magic realism a bit, though. And yes, there is a shot of a real jellyfish, washed up on the beach (78 min.).
