Re: “Oakland City Councilmembers Want Repeal of State Welfare Rule that Restricts Aid to Families with Newborns

This report discusses only the amount of cash aid currently allowed but it does not include the WIC benefits that pay for free diapers and formula or the Food Stamps at about $300/mo. for Mom and an additional amount of the same for each child. It does not include the HUD housing for Welfare with children and the discounted utility payments made available by the State nor does it include the free medical care for all welfare recipients. The article makes it sound like welfare moms live on 430/mo and that simply is so untrue.

Re: “Oakland City Councilmembers Want Repeal of State Welfare Rule that Restricts Aid to Families with Newborns

There are too many people receiving welfare because they refuse to make use of the welfare programs that provide free babysitting so the parents can go to school learn a trade and get a job.

What about the taxpayers that actually work for a living and don't sit home and neglect their children all day? No one deserves to be supported because they decided to have a child. Birth control is free and it is irresponsible to have a child when you are not in a position to support it. No one helped me support mine and I worked all the time to provide a decent home and food.
