Mitchell Halberstadt - I own a home in Oakland.I am not poor. I do not live at or below the poverty line. I could not afford to pay for a luxury apartment. The point is that there are people who live in Oakland now who need housing. The luxury apartment building in question is not for current Oakland residents. It is for people who do not live here yet, who will move here and who will usurp the racial and economic diversity that is already at risk in Oakland, in essence, ruining what makes Oakland such a great city. Your disdain for what you call "the poor" is much more telling about you than it is about the people for whom you care so little.
