Starline Social Club’s Jazz Tuesdays are reliably inviting, with a warm, communal vibe cultivated by a rotating cast of Berkeley and Oakland players. This week, spitter Jay Stone will take over the small stage downstairs, backed by regulars like percussionist and Toro y Moi collaborator Brijean Murphy, and Bells Atlas bassist Doug Stuart. Stone specializes in laying down knotty, intricate bars over lounge-y jazz loops, and his latest single, “Flying Monkeys,” is a case in point. Expect to hear that and more, fully fleshed out by the four-piece ensemble.
