On July 9, 2008, in a highly-publicized article headlined "Sources say the feds likely will file charges against the State Senate boss," Robert Gammon and the East Bay Express reported that prosecutors in the Northern District "will probably soon ask a federal grand jury to indict State Senate boss Don Perata on public corruption charges, according to two sources familiar with the investigation." Now, we learn that Gammon's story was erroneous and that in fact those same prosecutors decided to take the 180-degree opposite action -- declining the case on its merits.

Even a broken watch is right two times a day, but sadly I'm not sure you can say the same about Mr. Gammon's shamefully one-sided and often inaccurate reporting on the Perata case. I would take everything written here with a generous grain of salt.
