Jan Stensland

When: Mon., Oct. 29, 7 p.m. 2007
Price: free

According to the EPA, the air inside new homes can be as much as ten times more toxic than the air outside, thanks (but no thanks) to chemicals in paint, carpeting, and other surface materials. At the Kensington Library (61 Arlington Ave., Kensington), Jan Stensland gives a talk on creating what she calls "green and healthy homes." Blending environmental science with common sense, Stensland has advised the Alameda County Waste Management Authority and was the in-house green-building expert for Kaiser Permanente. Monday, Oct. 29, 7 p.m.
