Re: “Trust in Richmond Police Strained by the Shooting of Richard Perez

"the city has made efforts to portray Richard Perez as a troubled young man whose actions are to blame for his death, rather than investigating the officer."

This tells the story. The police don't investigate the officers, but rationalize their own actions -- no matter how irrational they may be. If Mr. Perez was a "troubled young man", that should have been the first consideration. Was no one with Officer Jensen such that two people could have dealt with an unarmed, troubled young man? Why was Officer Jensen's weapon even out, so that Mr. Perez could "grab for it?" Did he try to grab it out of the holster? Couldn't Jensen and his partner have handled that without shooting?

THESE LIVES MATTER!!! Stop killing us!
