Re: “Raphael Saadiq

I heard Mr. Saadiq say that one should get off on ones own music. Sounds to me like someone needs to come out of the booth and behind the board and put the self absorbed efforts on the back burner. I understand one must grow musically and go beyond the horizons of previous achievements. However,if that's the case. There is no reason to repeat others efforts either. We will have Motown music long after the clones music has been buried and forgotten. So I ask. Why would an artist want to run away from what works, and go to something that worked for others decades ago to act like his cloned effort is innovative? In my opinion he's a talent but too many yes men and the power of money and the musical freedom to do whatever is surely not good for us all. I think the audience that made you deserves to have another TTT disc. I think we've had enough of this dudes vanity projects. If not. this tells me he's not interested in pleasing his fan base or moving units. If this is the case, stay out the booth and sit behind the mixing board and listen to crap like this on his own.
