Adventure, Fantasy
An adventure flick about the tangible power of the written word, manifest in the ability of Mo Folchart (Brendan Fraser) to summon characters from books into our world by simply reading aloud. The hitch: something near Mo must be sent into the book in exchange. He realized this before he knew he had the gift, however, and for nine years he and his daughter have been searching for his wife (her mother) in the pages of the rare fantasy novel Inkheart while trying to evade the villainous Capricorn — also once a resident of Inkheart. The movie has a great premise, but the execution is devoid of fun and especially adventure. Even the magical appearance of Toto is an event barely worth oohing at (106 min.).
