What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of summertime day parties in Oakland? If it’s not street food and reggae music—you should probably get out more. The first ever OakTown Reggae festival will incorporate Caribbean food, drink specials, and some of the best world music you can get in Oakland. Level 13 will host two stages — indoor and outdoor — with live performances by Los Rakas, Sizzla Kalonji, Marlon “Ganja Farmer” Asher, Ras Shiloh, and many more. Plus, the official DJ of the Golden State Warriors, DJ D Sharp, will be in the mix to rally all the Dubs fans in attendance. Whether you like dancehall, reggaetón, or hip-hop, you’ll be sure to get a little bit of everything at a block party like this. There will be food trucks and a full bar, but make sure you try the Paella from Berkeley’s La Marcha Tapas Bar—it’s worth saving your appetite.
Saturday, June 17, 2pm, $50, 21-and-over, 341 13th St Oakland, Level13Oakland.com.
