In the Realm of the Senses

Originally from New York, Karyn Yandow is known for capturing pictures of the planet’s botanical gifts. Most of her photographs are manipulated to show a richer tint than what the eye normally sees, which might give viewers an introspective moment to reflect on past memories in a different light. Yandow often edits her work to look comic book-like. That was evident in her previous project named Flora, where she got up close with succulents and flowers. In Muir Woods, a project that highlights Mill Valley’s 200-foot-tall redwood trees, the self-taught photographer created a sense of surrealism by exaggerating the photos’ undertones to make the trees look a little purple. Now, Yandow presents In the Realm of the Senses, a photo exhibit featuring stringy palm trees and other wildlife modified with the same dreamy pigments. A closing reception will be held on Sept. 29.
