In the Night Kitchen

The “Night Kitchen” is a surreal Maurice Sendak dreamscape made to delight and entrance young — and young at heart — readers. It’s also the name of one of the newest exhibitions downtown at pt.2 Gallery. Get yourself into the Night Kitchen at this group show featuring current work from East Coast artists Angela Heish and Austin Eddy; Danish sculptor and painter Soren Behncke; and Canadian artist Michael Swaney. Curated by Pablo de Pinho, the artist, musician, and founder of the online art gallery ArtSFBlog, In The Night Kitchen is an invitation for viewers to explore a tactile and dreamy world of loopy lines and startling colors. The work on display includes a range of small- to large-scale framed and unframed paintings appearing on cardboard, canvas, and linen. Much like the children’s book, you’ll find yourself discovering different ways of seeing and being. It’s all about abstract perspective: Come get some.
