Before reviewing the videogame movie In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, one has to wonder: Why adapt a game most couldn’t give a damn about? To make matters worse, when making said videogame movie (if you haven’t guessed, a sword-and-sorcery “epic”), why the hell would you hire Burt Reynolds and Ray Liotta to play the king and villain? Seriously, Robert Loggia and Michael Madsen weren’t available? They’ll act in anything for a free lunch. All of this would make sense, though, if director Uwe Boll were shooting for farce or at least camp. But it's obvious that's not the case the moment our hero Farmer (Jason Statham) starts throwing around his boomerang. Yes, you read that right: a boomerang (150 min., 2008).
